FACULTY // Tutia Schaad is “Head of the Faculty of Creative Arts”, “Head of Fashion Innovation”  and professor for fashion design at Atelier Chardon Savard, Macromedia University Berlin.
As an academic, she stands for interdisciplinarity, sustainability and innovation in teaching practices and contents, leading with these same approach the Creative Arts Faculty of the Macromedia University in Berlin, which counts among its study programs Fashion Design, Media Design, Communication Design and Acting.

FASHION DESIGN // Tutia Schaad studied at HEAA in Geneva and at Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee. After graduating and gaining work experience in Paris at GIVENCHY Haute-Couture, she co-founded with Johanna Perret in 2009 the fashion label PERRET SCHAAD, that established as one of the most inspirational fashion brand in Germany.
As co-owner and co-creative director of the label, she created and marketed 17 collections, showed on runways during Fashion Week Berlin, in locations such as the Neue Nationalgalerie from Mies van der Rohe, the David Chipperfield Architects Berlin office and the Hardware Store Hellweg.

The shows were greatly covered by the German and international press (FAZ, Süddeutsche Zeitung, WWD, Vogue Germany, Wallpaper, Le Monde...), while the label dressed German actresses and celebrities as Hannah Herzsprung, Karoline Herfurth, Fritzi Haberlandt, Aino Laberenz, Katharina Schüttler and Anna-Maria Mühe amongst others.

In 2018, Tutia Schaad opened her eponymous design studio TUTIA SCHAAD, offering her expertise as a fashion consultant to fashion brands (trend research, colours, collection development and design), while herself meeting new challenges in fashion design, theater and dance in own projects and collaborations.

COSTUME DESIGN // Since 2016, Tutia Schaad creates costumes for the “Münchner Kammerspiele” under the intendance of Matthias Lilienthal. She worked on the productions of regisseur Toshiki Okada: “Hot Pepper, Air Conditioner and the Farewell Speech” (2016), “No Theater” (2017) and “ No Sex” (2018) and “The Vacuum Cleaner” (2019) with dramaturg Tarun Kade, stage designer Dominic Huber, and actors such as Thomas Hauser, Julia Riedler, Stefan Merki, Anna Drexler and Franz Rogowski.

Since 2019, she is collobarating in productions for further institutions such as the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin (“Futureland” by Lola Arias, 2019), Vooruit in Gent (“The Goldberg Variations” by Michiel Vandevelde, in collaboration with Platform K, 2020), Theater Neumarkt, in Zürich (“Protest 1980” by Michiel Vandevelde, 2020) and Kaat in Yokohama (production by Toshiki Okada, 2021).
